SUB-TEAMS
MECHANICAL
CHASSIS
The chassis team works on the spaceframe, rear bulkhead, driver safety, and ergonomics. You will be using CAD and FEA to design components such as mounts and jigs and then fabricate them later on in the year. There are lots of opportunities to get hands on with the car and work with other sub-teams to ensure efficient packaging.
What we are looking for:
DRIVETRAIN
The Drivetrain team's main responsibilities include the design and manufacturing of the motor mounting, transmission, cooling loop, and differential. Members of this team will be exposed not only to classical mechanics but also fluid and thermodynamics.
What we are looking for:
VEHICLE DYNAMICS AND SUSPENSION
The vehicle dynamics team ties together several of the car's subsystems — suspension, uprights and hubs, steering, brakes and tyres. It covers everything from the contact patch of the tyre right up to the steering wheel, aiming to create a car the driver can feel confident in and push to the limits. Work ranges from CAD and simulation through to manufacturing parts and validating them with sensor data at testing.
What we are looking for:
COMPOSITES
The composites team designs, manufactures and tests the carbon fibre (and similar) components on the car. This includes using aerodynamics and fluid mechanics to ensure what we design is optimal for the car. Some examples of composite parts on the car are the sleeve, scoops, and dashboard; however, we are constantly expanding our horizons on what we can make. What we are looking for:
POWERTRAIN
ELECTRICAL
The electrical team is responsible for designing, packaging, and manufacturing electrical sub-systems. This involves circuit and PCB design, component selection, electrical wiring and packaging in CAD. Every sub-assembly will require skills from multiple disciplines. Hence engineers in other streams are welcome alongside EEE.
What we are looking for:
BATTERIES
The Battery team combines mechanical and electrical engineering with high- and low-voltage systems to develop the vehicle’s primary energy source. We design and build the high-voltage accumulator from concept through to vehicle integration, working across CAD, electrical design, simulation and testing.
What we are looking for:
SENSORS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS
The sensors & control systems team develops the VCU, the software that runs the car, and integrate the motor, inverter and BMS over the CAN bus. Members work on PCB design and assembly, programming, electrical integration and vehicle tuning. We also simulate the car (CarMaker & Python), mount sensors, and use data from testing to optimise lap time.
What we are looking for:
OPERATIONS
MEDIA AND MARKETING
The Media & Marketing team manages Warwick Racing’s brand, communications and public presence. This includes social media, website content, photography and videos, graphic design and merchandise, as well as supporting sponsor visibility, recruitment and team engagement. The team works to grow our audience, showcase our engineering and achievements, and build a strong identity for Warwick Racing both within the university and beyond.
What we are looking for:
SPONSORSHIP
The Sponsorships & Partnerships team builds relationships with leading companies, secures funding and technical support, and helps drive the team forward. Gain hands-on experience in business development, negotiation, networking, professional communication, and creating impactful presentations.
What we are looking for:
TRACKSIDE AND EVENTS
The Trackside & Events team is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting the team’s activities both on and off the track. This includes managing testing sessions, competition events, outreach activities, and internal team events. During testing and competitions, the sub-team helps ensure that the team is well organised, prepared, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. We also take responsibility for organising outreach and team events that help represent the team, engage with the wider community, and build a positive team culture.
